"Still, There is Life" - an exhibition featuring the work of visual artists Antonio Figuero, Jackie Hinkson, Winston Ian "Sundiata" Stewart and Karl Doyle - opens on September 7 from 3 p.m., at the 101 Art gallery, 84 Woodford Street, newtown, Port of Spain.
The exhibition closes on September 18.
The four artists, exploring and expressing their respective sentiments on the genre of still life, present works highlighting a range of subjects that are reflective of contemporary and traditional Trinbagonian life - Hinkson and Sundiata, through their recognised styles, along with Figuero and Doyle, both progressively recognising and cultivating their own approaches.
The compositions, in subtle ways, declare the universal interests and experiences of Caribbean people, inviting observers to engage the artists through this presentation of shapes, perspective and pigments that provoke us to know that even in seemingly ordinary objects, still, there is life.
There will be a special viewing on September 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
